Black Umfolosi perform at The Lowry.

WORLD-FAMOUS a cappella and dance group The Black Umfolosi returns to The Lowry next week with their spectacular songs and dances which have thrilled audiences all over the globe.

The group deliver each show with fun and joyful enthusiasm, their engaging and energy-driven performances feature fresh and surprising music, intricate rhythms and unusual rich harmonies, interspersed with clicking, clapping and shouting.

Each show is brilliantly choreographed with a full range of movements from vibrant stomping and leaping to the captivating Gumboot Dance of South Africa.

The group began as a means of entertaining themselves while still at school in Zimbabwe in 1982.

The original six members have developed their skills and their organisation to a point where the now 18 members provide a multitude of services in the performing arts industry in Zimbabwe and internationally.

Their appearance arrives fresh off the back of a lengthy stint in Middlewich, where they performed a concert in St Michael and All Angels’ Church while also delivering workshops in the town’s Celebrating Cultures project.
