Help with travel costs to see House of Bernarda Alba at Venue Cymru in Llandudno

FINANCIAL assistance is being offered to those who are arranging transport for theatre-goers to Llandudno’s Venue Cymru this week for Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru – the Welsh National Theatre Company’s production of Frederico Garcia Lorca’s House of Bernarda Alba.

“The company is very conscious of the fact that Venue Cymru was the only theatre in the whole of North Wales able to cater for the production,” said Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s marketing manager, Elwyn Williams.

“The least we can do under the circumstances is go so some way the meet the travelling costs.”

House of Bernarda Alba was the last play penned by Lorca – the poet and renowned dramatist executed during the Spanish Civil War.

It’s been adapted into Welsh by Mererid Hopwood – the only female ever to win the bardic chair in the National Eisteddfod of Wales.

House of Bernarda Alba can be seen at Venue Cymru on June 18-19. Ring 01492 872000 to book. Those who wish to take up the offer of financial assistance to travel to Llandudno are asked to telephone 01267 233 882.
