Win tickets to see Blur at Manchester Evening News Arena

Readers are being offered the chance to win tickets to see Blur, the kings of alternative rock, later this month.

The prime purveyors of Britpop will turn back the clock with a career-spanning performance at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Friday June 26, ahead of their headline slot at Glastonbury Festival the following night.

Blur’s run of success began in 1991 with their debut album Leisure – the first of seven studio albums.

At the peak of their powers, the band found themselves embroiled in a high-profile spat with fellow English rockers Oasis.

The publicity did neither band any harm and Blur secured a string of top 10 singles, including number one hits with Country House and Beetlebum.

Support will come from 2007 Mercury Award winners Klaxons and the fast rising Florence and the Machine.

To win tickets for the gig send a cutting of this story along with the answer to the following question to Blur Competition, Weekly News, 2 Robert Street, Widnes, Cheshire, WA8 6LY.
