West End celebration returns to Crewe’s Lyceum Theatre

MUSICAL extravaganza Beyond the Barricade returns to Crewe’s Lyceum Theatre tonight (Wednesday) as part of its 10th anniversary tour.

The show is back following a stunning sell-out performance last year.

The most successful touring show of its kind, it features a cast of past principal performers from Les Misérables.

The group of seasoned professionals will perform a variety of memorable songs from the West End including hits from Miss Saigon, The Lion King, Phantom Of the Opera, We Will Rock You and Chicago, finishing with a spectacular finale from Les Misérables.

The show began life in 1995 as a charity fundraising concert for Mencap. Organisers Andy Reiss and David Fawcett soon realised the show was a hit and decided to take it on the road themselves.

It quickly built up a reputation for its slick, no-nonsense style, giving musical theatre songs a bold concert treatment but with the intention to portray the material as if the audience were watching the original performance.

A Lyceum spokeswoman says: “This is a brand new production featuring music from all the great shows and movies.”

For tickets, priced £16.50 to £18.50, phone the box office on 01270 537333.
