Exhibition and concert in Liverpool will pay tribute to George Harrison

A FREE exhibition featuring the largest collection of George Harrison memorabilia in the world starts on August 1 with a celebration concert being held on the same day.

The concert to launch the exhibition features a diverse array of musicians from around the world, all gathered under one roof at St George’s Hall in Liverpool to celebrate the music that Harrison made and loved.

George Harrison tribute band Sir Frankie Crisp and the Friars kick things off in style with a set devoted to George’s solo work including a song from each post Beatles album.

Next up are good friends of George, Ray Bernard and Karen Shutt. Ray was the first fully paid up member and later president of the George Formby Society. Karen will play a piano solo, as well as accompanying Ray.

Gaurav Mazumdar, disciple of Ravi Shankar, visits St George’s Hall from India to represent George’s passion for classical Indian music.

And the concert will end with a collection of George’s best loved Beatles compositions by Piggies, a group of alternative musicians assembled for this occasion.

The exhibition, which is in seven parts, runs for seven weeks.
