BEFORE breaking through with the million-selling Careless Love, the smoky-voiced Madeleine Peyroux paid her dues on the hallowed streets of Paris's Latin Quarter, busking 20s and 30s jazz standards.
Her debut album Dreamland teamed her up with New York jazz luminaries Marc Ribot, James Carter et al.
The follow-up, Half the Perfect World (2007), confirmed her status as a major new voice on the international scene. Now she is coming to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on April 29 at 7.30pm. Tickets £25, £20. Ring 0151 709 3789 for details.
