Riverdance brings its farewell tour to Liverpool Empire

Believe it or not – Riverdance is bowing out.

After 13 years of entertaining audiences with a celebration of Irish dance and culture, the phenomenon that began in 1995, has come to an end.

Riverdance, The Farewell Tour will arrive at the Liverpool Empire Theatre next week (April 20 - 25) as part of a fourteen date tour.

Producer Moya Doherty said: “Since 1995, the success of Riverdance in the UK has gone beyond our wildest dreams. The fact that the show continues to draw and excite audiences 13 years after its debut in Dublin is a tribute to every dancer, singer, musician, staff and crew member who have dedicated themselves to the show.

“We look forward to this farewell tour of the UK as it was always our intention to end on a high note.”

Composed by Bill Whelan and directed by John McColgan, the full-length show first opened in February 1995 in the Point Theatre, Dublin.

Since then the company has performed to an audience of more than 2.7 million people in 18 cities. The worldwide TV audience is in excess of 2 billion people.
