CLASSIC musical Singin’ in the Rain comes pouring into the Regent Theatre in Hanley next week.
The UK Productions company is currently taking the show on a nationwide tour in a production that stars Olivier Award-winning West End and Broadway star Tim Flavin.
One of the best-loved musicals of all time, Singin’ in the Rain became an instant favourite in the 1952 film that starred Gene Kelly, and features some of the most famous dances in musical theatre history.
In the stage production, Flavin plays Don Lockwood in the story of a popular silent film star with humble roots as a singer, dancer, and stunt man who barely tolerates his vapid, shallow leading lady Lina and falls in love with talented chorus girl Kathy.
Singin’ in the Rain exudes all the style and spectacle of the MGM golden age and features some of the most popular songs ever written, including Good Morning, Make ’em Laugh, Moses Supposes, You Were Meant For Me and perhaps the most famous song and dance number of all time, Singin’ in the Rain.
Theatre spokesman Dave Bradbury said: “It’s a show guaranteed to lift your spirits and send you out singing and dancing, whatever the weather.”
Singin’ in the Rain runs from Monday until Saturday, April 25. Shows start at 8pm, with 2.30pm matinees on the Wednesday and Saturday.
Tickets are priced from £12.50- £31.50 – to book, phone the box office on 0870 060 6649.
