THE sublime Doll and the Kicks play The Box on Friday in a warm-up for a sell-out tour with Morrissey.
The female singer, known only as Doll, leads a band that formed in Brighton in 2005 while attending university, and that released their debut single Roll Out The Red Carpet at the beginning of the year.
They were singled out from the Brighton music scene when they were invited to perform at the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury 2007.
Doll and the Kicks spent last year tirelessly touring the UK and Europe and supporting established artists including Gabriela Cilmi and Das Pop.
The band's debut album will be released soon and follows on the back of highly positive music industry reviews.
They were chosen as MSN's Unsigned Band of the Month in November and in January were named as one of the Top 10 New Bands for 2009 on MySpace.
Main support comes from Crewe-based Sumo Kings, fresh from high-profile slots supporting Haunts and Feeder.
Further guests include The Varlets and Silvertone Prophet Deluxe.
Admission is £5 and doors open at 8pm. For more information visit www.theboxcrewe.co.uk
