Cricket legend Henry Blofeld returns to the Lyceum

CRICKET commentary legend Henry Blofeld will stump the audience next week with a new two-hour show at the Lyceum in Crewe.

Returning to Crewe after his appearance last year, The Loves and Laughs of Henry Blofeld follows on from his successful An Evening With Blowers tour last year.

In it, he talks about his life and some of the famous people he has met, including James Bond creator Ian Fleming, who named one of the arch-villains after the family name.

Blofeld is notorious for his ramblings about pigeons, cranes, double- decker buses and cakes between overs, and he famously blundered England spinner Monty Panesar’s name by calling him ‘Monty Python’.

As a well-loved cricket commentator known for his unique style, Blowers brings his after-dinner speaking expertise to his fun and friendly show – while also managing to hit one or two modern habits for six.

Last year he told the Chronicle: “I’ve got a new career now and I love the stage. It’s just as much fun as the cricket. I’ve been doing this for four years now and I’ve never had an unhappy audience.”

The Loves and Laughs of Henry Blofeld starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced from £14-15 – telephone the box office on 01270 537333 or visit www. lyceumtheatre.net.
