Limehouse Lizzy return to Crewe’s Limelight club.

ONE of the most celebrated tributes bands in the UK, Limehouse Lizzy, return to Crewe on Friday.

Formed in 1993 and a tribute to 70s rockers Thin Lizzy, they have appeared on the BBC and MTV.

Their name derives from Limehouse in the East End of London where founder member and lead singer Wayne Ellis still lives.

They regularly play to packed crowds around the country and are bringing their Spirit of the Black Rose tour to Crewe, which they promise will be an ‘action-packed pyrotechnic-fuelled explosion of a show’.

A band spokesman said: “They continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide.

“Their attention to detail, playful audience interaction and that all important X-factor leaves you with the feeling of witnessing the real thing.”

The band were filmed live on stage at the Crewe venue in an episode of the BBC’s Arena programme, entitled Into the Limelight, which focused on the UK’s tribute band phenomenon, back in 2006.

Fans can expect more Celtic-influenced tracks like Whisky in the Jar and Black Rose, amongst the usual classics such as The Boys are Back in Town. Doors open at 8.30pm, tickets are £11, phone the box office on 01270 251929.
