LIVERPOOL theatre company Spike bring their latest fantasy storytelling adventure to the city’s Everyman in February.
The Sandman will take its audiences into a dark world through a live musical score, animation and wicked puppetry.
Marking 10 years of national touring, The Sandman is directed by Glenn Noble (Spike artistic director) and designed by Jo Pocock (Liverpool Lantern Company Artistic Director) with original new music by Matthew Wood.
The Sandman is inspired by ETA Hoffman’s supernatural tale of the same name which explores the psychology of dreams and the stories that grown-ups tell their children to influence their actions.
Director Glenn Noble said: “This is an exciting time for Spike following Liverpool’s year as Capital of Culture. We’re pleased to be able to contribute to this cultural legacy with the launch of our nineteenth new show.
“To be able to show our work to audiences across the UK is a wonderful privilege.”
Spike were last seen in Liverpool with their spontaneous theatre event Hoof!, co-created with Rejects Revenge Theatre Company.
The Sandman can be seen at the Everyman in Hope Street from February 17-21. Ring the box office on 0151 709 4776 for details or visit www.everymanplayhouse.com.
