THE Durutti Column are back with a new album and a tour which comes to the Live Lounge in Liverpool on February 16.
Their new album is entitled Love In The Time of Recession, due out on April 20, , the second to feature new vocalist Poppy Roberts who also plays electric piano on several
of the tracks.
It's now 30 years since Factory Records released the band's debut album The Return Of The Durutti Column in 1979.
The Durutti Column formed in 1978 and featured Manchester born Vini Reilly, a classically-trained pianist and virtuoso guitarist, who took their name from Spanish revolutionary Buenaventura Durutti and the cartoon of two Situationist cowboys in the comic Le Retour de la Colonne Durutti (1966).
Centered around Reilly, the then five-piece band recorded two tracks for FAC-2 A Factory Sample, the first ever music release on Factory Records.
Tickets for the Live Lounge gig cost £12 in advance or £15 on the door. Visit www.babybluelivelounge.co.uk or ring 0844 8000 400.
