SGT Wolfbanger bring their blistering set of indie pop to The Box in Crewe on Saturday, January 31.
One the success stories of last year, the talented five-piece are now looking to impose their songwriting skills on the mainstream music industry, with a raft of high profile gigs across the UK.
The band are frontman Dan Parry, Rob McMeekin on lead guitar, Mike Grocott on rhythm guitar, Gaz Muirhead on bass and drummer Nath Lundie.
Things started life as a two-piece with Dan and Rob writing parodies of chart songs and comedy music.
Nath, Gaz and Mike were recruited and helped take it all to another level, sparked by a self-funded six track EP.
While building up a strong following with some awesome gigs in their native South Cheshire, entering the UK Live and Unsigned competition raised their profile immediately.
The press sat up and took notice as they saw off over 10,000 bands to make the final dozen who fought it out in a showpiece grand final in London in June 2008.
Although no absolute victory, Wolfbanger clinched an award for generating the most publicity.
The hard graft paid off last year when the band secured a slot supporting McFly.
They are supported at The Box by fellow home grown musicians Bassics, who came together while at South Cheshire College.
Drummer Craig Hatton said: “With everyone having different influences our music is, varied, new and very enjoyable.
“At present we are all studying BTEC Music at South Cheshire where we’re learning about the industry.”
Further support comes from newly-formed and highly-rated Mid-Cheshire outfit Plastic Highways.
Doors from 8pm. Entry is £4.
