Tribute to music of Nick Drake at The Lowry

A HEARTFELT musical tribute to the late, lamented Nick Drake will be performed at The Lowry at Salford Quays on Sunday (January 18) by Keith James and Rick Foot.

Previous tours across the country, totalling just over 400 concerts, have seen audiences filling arts centres and theatres to hear the music of Nick Drake in what would have been the musician’s 60th year.

A complex, melancholy character, he released only three LPs in his lifetime - Five Leaves Left, Bryter Later and Pink Moon - featuring beautiful music which was considered out of step with the early 70s.

Drake has now become the most revered of all figures in the world of contemporary acoustic music.

Keith James’ voice and acoustic guitar are complemented by Rick Foot’s inventive double bass parts, not in imitation of Drake but in appreciation of his exceptional, timeless music.
