Star spot for saxophonist

SAXOPHONE star Amy Dickson returns to the city next week after a well received concert in 2007 during the Chester Summer Music Festival.

She is the first Celebrity Concert guest of Chester Music Society and will be performing at St Mary’s Centre on Wednesday, January 14 at 7.30pm, accompanied by Martin Cousin, who will also perform piano solos.

Born in Sydney, Amy began saxophone lessons at the age of seven and made her concerto debut at 16. At 17 she became a recipient of the James Fairfax Australian Young Artist of the Year competition, which led to a recording with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the start of an international career. She is supported by the Countess of Munster Trust.

Martin appears regularly at the major London musical venues

Amy and Martin will take a masterclass at The Catholic High School on the afternoon of the concert.

Tickets are priced £12. Under 18s are admitted free. Ring 01244 402385 for details.
