A CLEVER young bride turns to the art of storytelling to save her life as the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme unveils its 2008 Christmas show this weekend.
The classic Arabian Nights will be brought to life on stage in a production directed by Paul Warwick and choreographed by Shobna Gulati, better known as Sunita in Coronation Street.
Long ago, in a faraway land, it is wedding night in the palace of King Shahrayar. By morning the new Queen Sharazard will be put to death like a thousand young brides before her.
But the clever young Queen has a gift that can save her – the gift of storytelling. And she has one thousand and one miraculous tales to tell.
Arabian Nights is packed full of classic children’s stories including Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Sinbad the Sailor, The Little Beggar and more.
