Curtain up on jazz

THE Andy Gleave Trio make a welcome return as the guests of the North Wales Jazz Society next Tuesday.

After studying music at Liverpool University, Andy Gleave’s professional career began with a four or five year dalliance with the pop industry, including a spell with the band Rainbow Cottage.

Andy, who is a lecturer in popular music at Wigan and Leigh College, is a frequent performer at the well-known Wigan International Jazz Festival and Manchester Jazz Festival.

At his November concert, for which Andy Gleave will be joined by Trefor Owen on guitar and Dave Turner on double bass, his vocals will feature styles as diverse as those of George Benson and Van Morrison, with numbers such as Moondance and Masquerade.

The concert takes place at the Royal British Legion in Llay at 8.30pm. Admission £6, concessions £5. Further information is available on 01745 812260 and at www.northwalesjazz.org.uk
