TEN years of exciting contemporary dance will be celebrated at The Lowry when award-winning dance theatre choreographer, Jasmin Vardimon, marks a decade of success with a retrospective new work entitled Yesterday.
Revisiting some of the most striking moments selected from the company's repertoire over the past decade, Vardimon integrates new choreographic material with live video and animation to create a new production stamped with her daring theatricality and contemporary social relevance.
Jasmin Vardimon’s exciting approach to contemporary dance has won her an international reputation for her unique choreography and developed her physical dance company (JVC) into one of the most pioneering in Britain.
Pushing the boundaries of human physicality Jasmin combines quirky characterisation, innovative set design and humour, expressing physical theatre that is edgy and comprehensible.
Vardimon’s powerful art of story-telling integrates multiple layers of communication - combining dance, movement, video, animation, text and music. Her sharp instincts and keen observations of human behaviour deliver beautifully precise characterisation, powerfully brought to life by her company of versatile dancers.
Yesterday can be seen at The Lowry in Salford Quays on Monday and Tuesday, October 27-28. Visit www.thelowry.com or ring 0870 787 5788.
