Terrifying ghost story comes to the Regent

ONE of the most terrifying nights you will ever spend in the theatre is coming up at the Regent in Stoke-on-Trent next week.

The Woman In Black has been phenomenally successful, both as a novel and a play, combining special sound and lighting effects, clouds of dry ice, ear-splitting screams and the atmospheric power of the theatre.

More than three million people have lived to tell the tale including many famous names such as the Princes William and Harry, Annie Lennox, Michael Parkinson, Ben Elton, Roger Bannister, the Sultan of Brunei and Jamie Oliver.

Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation of Susan Hill’s novel tells the story of a lawyer who is obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a ‘Woman in Black’.

He engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It begins innocently enough, but as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds.

Sean Baker plays the role of Arthur Kipps with Ben Porter as the Young Actor. Both actors have played the same roles in the West End. The Woman in Black can be seen at the Regent Theatre from October 13-18. Ring the box office on 0870 060 6649 or visit www.regenttheatre.co.uk.
