Manchester Camerata kicks-off Chester Music Society Celebrity Concerts

THE first event of the Chester Music Society Celebrity Concerts season features a return of the ever-popular Manchester Camerata Ensemble on Wednesday, October 8 at 7.30pm at St Mary’s Centre.

The Ensemble arrives this time with five strings and a clarinet, playing two string quintets and a popular clarinet quintet.

Manchester Camerata Ensemble was formed in 1990 and features players from Manchester Camerata. The Ensemble has a busy schedule, performing regularly at the Royal Northern College of Music and at venues around the region.

The leader, Richard Howarth (violin), is guest conductor for Chester Philharmonic this season; he is joined by Sarah Wittingham (violin), Richard Williamson (viola), David Aspin (viola), Jonathon Price (cello) and clarinettist Fiona Cross, now considered as one of Britain’s most outstanding and established clarinettists since appearing as soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall.

Works to be performed are: Mozart - String Quintet in D K593; Mozart - Clarinet Quintet in A K581; Brahms - String Quintet No.2 in G Op88.

The concert is supported by The Friends of the Celebrity Concerts.
