Saturday, September 27 – Festival Book Swap, Town Hall Square, 10.30am–3pm – To herald the festival, the Friends of the Chester Literature Festival stage their annual books bonanza. Proceeds to Book Aid International.
Thursday, October 2 – Chester Poets, 7.30 pm, Bear & Billet – Celebrate the launch of their latest anthology Room for Poetry and DVD Voices. This well-known and long-established group will read their work and then offer the floor to the audience to share their own poems.
Thursday, October 2 – Waverton Good Read Award, Eaton Golf Club, 7pm – The residents of Waverton foster new writing talent by giving an annual award to the best British debut novel. This year’s winner is Paul Torday for the critically acclaimed and very funny Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, an immediate bestseller that has been sold in 19 countries.
