Diverse films from around the globe

THE silver screen returns to Chester with the new season from Chester Film Society (CFS) which offers a diverse selection of films from 18 countries, including some North West premieres.

The programme opens on Tuesday, September 16 at The Little Theatre with a new print of the classic Les Desmoselles de Rochefort which is the first of three French films to be shown over the season.

The much praised The Kite Runner is to be screened on October 14 and V for Vendetta on November 4.

To celebrate Liverpool European City of Culture ’08 the second screening of the season on October 7 is the acclaimed Terrance Davies film The Long Day Closes

To banish any winter blues there are contrasting films with musical and comedy themes from the North West premiere of Habana Blues on November 25 to El Violin on March 3 and Not Here To Be Loved on April 21.

The new year opens on the January 6 with the controversial The Last Mistress followed by the Australian award winner Jindabyne.

Interspersed through the season are a series of short films and social events.

Films are generally screened on Tuesday evenings at 7.45 pm in the relaxed atmosphere of The Little Theatre, Gloucester Street, Newtown or at The Steam Mill , Steam Mill Street.
