Review: Paul Dabek at Forum Studio Theatre

PAUL DABEK/Forum Studio Theatre, Chester

REVIEW/by Jo Henwood

SLEIGHT of hand or a trick of the eye. Call it what you will, it was magic.

Paul Dabek's Night of Magic at the Forum Studio Theatre in Chester was entertainment at its very best.

The talented 21-year old had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand with his eclectic mix of magic, illusion and comedy.

He's funny and clever and moves effortlessly through his programme of card tricks, mime, animal magic and shadow puppetry.

He has the uncanny knack of pitching his act just right for every member of the audience which ranged from seven to 70 and you can imagine him equally at home on a luxury cruise or in a back street working men's club.

The kids were in awe as he fished a live goldfish out of the audience or travelled through time to get that second can of coke. The grown ups laughed at the innuendo and his banter with the lively audience. Don't sit in the first few rows unless you're up for your few minutes of fame!

My advice is go and see him before he gets REALLY famous and you can still afford the tickets.
