CELEBRATE the arrival of summer with Wrexham Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Nights concert tomorrow.
The programme at Wrexham’s NEWI William Aston Hall includes Vaughan-Williams’ The Lark Ascending.
The violin solo is played by Wrexham violinist, Sam Aylward, a member of the Hallé Orchestra who also played with the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra as a teenager.
The piece, which depicts a lark dipping and swooping through English countryside, was voted number one in the Classic FM Hall of Fame in 2007 and 2008.
Conductor, Laurence Perkins, makes his eighth appearance with the orchestra to play Butterworth’s A Shropshire Lad, Nuits d'été by Berlioz, Delius’ La Calinda, Ravel’s Bolero and Where the Lemon Tree Blossoms by Strauss.
The orchestra will also be joined on stage by singer, Rebecca Afonwy-Jones.
Wrexham Symphony Orchestra play at NEWI William Aston Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets on the door, £9/£5. Free child ticket with each full-paying adult.
