Fete nets £2,500 for village

GOOD weather graced Tirley Garth for the Utkinton Village Garden Fete on Saturday.

The event kicked off with a football tournament between local schools with Tarporley Primary winning the Mark Williamson Trophy. Duddon came second and Utkinton third.

The fete was opened by Utkinton Primary School’s former caretaker Joan Hulse, who retired in March after 32 years service.

Ten-year-old Rebecca Antram was crowned Rose Queen and was attended by Hannah Lindley, Bethan Wardle, Katie Clarke, Clea Edelman, Olivia Skerratt, Sian Williamson and two sets of twins, Rachel and Sally Heath and Abbie and Lauren Jennings.

Her page boys were fellow Utkinton Primary School pupils Harry Dean, Ryan Harley, Angus Kidd, Daniel Meadows and Jordan Miller.

The event raised nearly £2,500 for the school, the village hall and the WI.
