Brass and blooms at Cheshire gardens

CONCERT PREVIEW/ Brass and Blooms at Lyme Park from June 15.

IF SITTING in the sun on a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to music in a glorious garden is your idea of heaven, make sure you visit Lyme Park in Stockport this summer.

As part of Cheshire's Year of Gardens 2008, Lyme Park is hosting six outdoor concerts by young musicians from Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of Lyme Park Mansion, Brass and Blooms begins on Saturday, June 15 with The Ceramic Brass Band from Staffordshire.On June 22 is a concert by Werneth Concert Wind Band from Romiley, Stockport will take to the stage, and June 29 features Poynton Youth Brass Band.

On July 6 is a concert by 40 students in Poynton High School Concert Band and 15 young flute players from 'Flute Salad' will be presenting a programme of light classics on July 13.

The final concert will be by Sale Brass Band on July 20.

BLOB Brass and Blooms is at Lyme Park Mansion from June 15 to July 20. The concerts are included in the normal admission rate to Lyme Park on 01663 762023 or e-mail lymepark@nationaltrust.org.uk.
