Acclaimed Polish pianist performs Manchester recital

THE celebrated Polish pianist Krystian Zimerman visits the UK to give three piano recitals, starting at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Friday, May 23 at 7.30pm.

The programme consists of: Bach’s Partita No.2 in C minor, BWV 826; Beethoven’s Sonata in C minor, Op.111; Brahms’ Klavierstücke, Op.119; Szymanowski’s Variations on a Polish Theme, Op.10.

Zimerman’s career was launched when he won the Chopin Competition in 1975 at 18, and he has worked with many legendary musical figures including Abbado, Bernstein, von Karajan, Ozawa, Muti, Boulez, Haitink and Rattle.

Tickets for the Krystian Zimerman recital at The Bridgewater Hall, which is part of the Hall’s International Concerts Series, cost from £12 to £27 and can be booked via the box office on 0161 907 9000 or via www.bridgewater-hall.co.uk.
