FILM and stage star Sandra Bernhard will be staging her only UK show of the year at Manchester’s Opera House on May 9.
Bernhard shot to fame with her landmark show Without You I’m Nothing, which has now been completely re-worked for its 20th anniversary, and premieres at Manchester’s Opera House, prior to seasons in Los Angeles and New York.
For more than 20 years, Bernhard has been challenging audiences with her hard-to-categorise blend of satire, comment, rock music, and comedy. Without You I’m Nothing shows her at her formidable best, as razor-sharp wit meets rants and rock ‘n’ roll.
Co-star – with Robert de Niro – in Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy, and guest star in hit TV shows Will & Grace, The L Word, and Roseanne, Sandra Bernhard was recently voted one of Comedy Central’s 100 Greatest Stand-ups.
Without You I’m Nothing later became a cult film, and this is being shown at the Cornerhouse Cinema in Manchester on May 10. Prior to the screening, Bernhard will be discussing her work with Tim Teeman, arts editor of The Times; full details from www.queerupnorth.com
Bernhard is joined by her band, the Rebellious Jezebels, and is supported by Tina C, queen of country music, diminutive denim dresses and diamonds.
