THE enduring power and popularity of the great Noel Coward has been proved once again with the latest Chester Theatre Club production.
The club is staging a production of Relative Values at the Little Theatre in Newtown next week and it has already been sold out for two weeks.
Box office manager Liz Stafford said: “The tickets for this Coward comedy have really been snapped up.”
Relative Values is a delightful mingling of “upstairs” and “downstairs” people, first produced in 1951 when Coward was up against kitchen sink drama and the “angry young men” – nevertheless it ran very successfully in the West End.
Lady Felicity is nervously awaiting the arrival of her son Nigel, Earl of Marshwood, who is bringing home his new fiancée, the glamorous film star, Miranda Frayle.
It is soon discovered that Moxie, Lady Felicity's trusted maid, knows more about Miranda Frayle than is comfortable for her: she is her long-lost sister, who ran away from home, leaving their mother broken-hearted.
Relative Values runs from Monday, May 12 to Saturday, May 17 at 7.30pm at Chester Little Theatre, Gloucester Street, Newtown, Chester. Ring 01244 322674.
