A VETERAN star of the popular Australian sopa opera Home and Away has been announced as the first star of the 2008 panto at Crewe’s Lyceum Theatre.
Lynne McGranger has played Irene in Home and Away for 15 years and will be appearing as the Fairy in the Lyceum’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk from December 3-January 3.
“I’m really looking forward to coming to Crewe later in the year. Pantomime is always a highlight of my calendar and I’ve heard some good reports of the Cheshire audiences,” said Ms McGranger.
The 2007 production of Beauty and the Beast was the venue’s most successful pantomime to date and the production team are confident that Jack and the Beanstalk will prove to be an even bigger hit.
Steve Boden, from WISH Theatre, producing the show once more, said: “We are thrilled to have Lynne McGranger on board for this year’s show in Crewe.
“Lynne is a natural entertainer and has been performing in pantomimes around the UK for many years. We are sure that she will add an element of Australian class to the production.”
Tickets for Jack and the Beanstalk went on sale last December; early indications are showing the theatre is on target to surpass all previous box office records, with more than 20% of tickets already gone.
