BOLT (PG)

OFTEN resembling a canine Truman Show, this Disney animated feature has pint-sized acting dog Bolt (voiced by John Travolta) believing he really is a mutt with superpowers like the character he plays in a hit TV series. Convinced his on screen owner Penny (Miley Cyrus) has been kidnapped, Bolt ends up on the streets of Manhattan, increasingly puzzled as to why his powers have deserted him.

BRONSON (18)

ORIGINALLY sentenced to seven years at the age of 19 for a bungled armed robbery, Ellesmere Port’s most infamous son Charles Bronson is now one of the UK's most notorious and violent inmates of our overcrowded prison system. Prepare for some unflinching and disturbing scenes of violence. The film's strongest asset is the leading man Tom Hardy, who has bulked up for the role and loses himself in the character.

CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC (PG)

A-LIST fame is beckoning for former soap star Isla Fisher whose skilful comedic performance in this otherwise light and fluffy comedy is nothing short of brilliant. Like Sex and the City without the sex and The Devil Wears Prada without the wit, there is nevertheless some priceless slapstick comedy that is funnier that anything in the two Steve Martin Pink Panther movies put together.

DUPLICITY (12A)

JULIA Roberts and Clive Owen are reunited for this complex but playful series of crosses and double crosses in the world of high powered corporate executives who are as tough in the bedroom as they are in the boardroom.

THE INTERNATIONAL (12A)

INCREDIBLY topical thriller in which Clive Owen and Naomi Watts attempt to bring the heads of a ruthless, corrupt bank to justice. Despite this, the end result is solid rather than inspired but it does have one great action set piece.
