Women2Day - Beauty: Look ahead to spring beauty

London Fashion Week

Be inspired by the latest looks from London Fashion Week.

London Fashion Week fever may have died down but the shows are already setting trends for next spring/summer.

We might have to wait patiently for the designer-inspired clothes to land in stores but next season's beauty is accessible right now, giving us plenty of time to perfect our favourite fashion-led looks.

From birds nest tresses and wet-look slick locks in hair, through to candy coloured eyes and glitterbomb lips in make-up, next season's catwalk looks have all the inspiration you need to brighten up your winter.

Catwalk make-up

Danielle Scutt

Make-up look: Fuchsia pink glitter lips resembling crushed glass were the standout feature on models' polished skin.

Inspiration: "The collection gives a nod to flamenco dancing, so the look was inspired by vintage Spanish postcards with layers of texture, embroidery and glitter," says Hannah Murray for MAC.

Key products: MAC Root Cream Colour Base, Beet Lip Pencil, and Pro Pink Glitter ( www.maccosmetics.co.uk ).

Todd Lynn

Make-up look: Sun bleached skin and brows with white clay around the eyes for an edgy minimalist look.

Inspiration: "A post-apocalyptic world of sand storms and deserts, we created a very earthy and matte feel with splashes of modern shiny and luminous textures smudged around the eyes to give depth and intensity," says Lisa Eldridge for No7.

Key products: No7 Amazing Eyes Pencil, Precision Brow Pencil, and Limited Edition Spring 2010 Highlighter ( www.boots.com ).

Twenty8Twelve

Make-up look: Models were transformed into label co-founder Sienna Miller clones with boho waves, sun-kissed limbs and highlighted skin.

Inspiration: "She's quite tanned. She's just returned from five days away at the beginning of summer and is really glowing. It's a little bit rock 'n' roll, Camden Town," says Lucia Pica for MAC.

Key products: MAC Face & Body Foundation, Gloss Texture, and Pro Lip Erase in Dim ( www.maccosmetics.co.uk ).

Basso & Brooke

Make-up look: Models' faces had a glossy post-facial sheen dominated by a deep plum lip.

Inspiration: "A sexy 1990s minimalist wet-look as though the models have just emerged from a pool," says James Kaliardos for L'Oreal Paris.

Key products: L'Oreal Paris Touche Magique, and Studio Secrets Professional Lipstick in Plum 840 ( www.loreal-paris.co.uk ).

William Tempest

Make-up look: Glossy and glamorous, models looked like screen sirens with a fresh summertime spin.

Inspiration: "The lady for this show is groomed, expensive and luxurious. Using golds, metallics and peaches we created a contoured, glamorous look," says Lan Nguyen for Benefit Cosmetics.

Key products: Benefit Sippin' n Dippin' Creaseless Cream Shadow, High Beam, and Big Daddy Lust Dust ( www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk ).

Ashish

Make-up look: Luxury mood make-up with uber-glossy skin and a look-at-me rich red lip.

Inspiration: "The whole sequin-tastic collection is based on luxury tourism and travels where you pick up souvenirs. Think cool girl in holiday mode but with a slight punk feeling throughout," says Georgina Graham for MAC.

Key products: MAC Mascara X, Lip Pencil in Cherry, and Lipstick in Ruby Woo ( www.maccosmetics.co.uk ).

Catwalk hair

Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Hair look: A grown-up version of Alice in Wonderland that's the antithesis of groomed hair. In a last minute change, Westwood ordered a "rougher texture" and added random scraps of girly ribbons.

Inspiration: "It's like a little girl's hair who's been dragged through a rabbit hole - textured with straggly bits at the ends and scraped back with ribbon for a playful twist," says Peter Gray for L'Oreal Professionnel.

Key products: L'Oreal Professionnel Pli and Volume Architect, and Texture Expert Smooth Ultime (0800 072 6699/ www.lorealprofessionnel.co.uk ).

Jonathan Saunders

Hair look: Models hair glistened under the catwalk spotlights with wet locks in a low side parting.

Inspiration: "Teenage vampires that look grungy and undone, but still innocent. It's like they've just stepped out of a swimming pool, with wet-look hair sprayed to the head to make it look a little 'awkward'," says Guido for Redken.

Key products: Redken Hardwear, and Outshine (0800 085 4956/ www.redken.co.uk ).

Christopher Kane

Hair look: Fragile tumbled down chignons with side partings and wispy long fringes that fell into models eyes.

Inspiration: "The hair was born from Kane's concept of the good-girl-gone-bad. She looks like her mother did her hair but on the way to church she met a boy and had a roll around in a field," says Paul Hanlon for TIGI.

Key products: TIGI Catwalk Volume Collection Root Boost Spray, Your Highness Thickening Gel Creme, and Your Highness Weightless Shine Spray ( www.catwalkbytigi.com ).

Betty Jackson

Hair look: Va-va voom volume with a 1950s beehive shape set at the roots but length at the back left loose and natural.

Inspiration: "1950s Hollywood siren from a black and white movie. Think alluring actress clicking around Paris by day and frequenting club to club by night," says Cos Sakkas for Toni&Guy.

Key products: Label.m Volume Mousse, Hairspray, and Resurrection Style Dust (0870 770 8080/ www.labelm.co.uk ).

House of Holland

Hair look: Models strutted down the wedding aisle catwalk with wild bird's nest hair that was light and airy with plenty of bounce.

Inspiration: "After discussions with (designer) Henry about his vision of a wedding theme for the show, we wanted to create a 1980s feel for the hair but with a modern twist," says Shay Dempsey for Sebastian.

Key products: Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber, Zero G, and Craft Clay ( www.sebastianprofessional.com ).

Paul Costelloe

Hair look: A look dominated by modern block fringe hair wefts, razored to give an edgy asymmetric finish.

Inspiration: "Bauhaus Cubism movement reflected in an intelligent fringe, with clean and structured graphic lines," says Tim Furssedonn for Toni&Guy.

Key products: Label.m Volume Mousse, and Shine Spray (0870 770 8080/ www.labelm.co.uk ).
