White is one of the defining trends of summer. Whether you keep it low key with a simple top or embrace the chance to bring some light into your life with a top-to-toe outfit, white is always right.

Linen is an obvious choice - if you are a purist you will have to put up with a little creasing, but the new blends available mean you can get the look without feeling crumpled around the edges.

Cotton offers a crisper look and is cool even in the hottest weather.

Grab yourself a pair of this season’s flat-fronted white linen trousers and team them with a floaty kaftan top. Or an oversized white T-shirt top will help you keep your cool.

And if there’s a cool breeze add a white boyfriend-style blazer.

Add a few highlights with white sunglasses, a handbag or even white shoes - which have finally come out of the style no-go area.
