A ‘do-it-yourself’ wedding is one sure fire way to personalise your big day and potentially save a bundle of money - and you don’t even have to be crafty!
Get stuck into making everything from invitations to table plans, and you could save yourself hundreds of pounds. Rally the support of friends and family and you’ll have plenty of fun too!
Here are some ideas to help you create your perfect wedding and make some big savings from HobbyCraft.
Make it special
Invitations are a good starting point and a great example of where you can make some big savings. There are lots of ways to create gorgeous and unique invitations at a fraction of what it costs to buy them ready-made.
You don’t even have to be creative. Modern materials like ready made card blanks and embellishments mean it’s never been so easy to make cards.
For design ideas just look around you - in card shops, magazines and books.
There are lots of different techniques you can use too, from traditional paper and card with embellishments to decoupage, rubber stamping and many more.
Just bear in mind that if you are making lots then keep the technique and the design simple.
If in doubt stick to the golden rule: ‘less is more’.
If you’ve lots of cards to make my tip is to set up a mini production line and enlist friends and family to help.
Above all, remember that there is no right or wrong way to make a card and whatever you make is sure to be appreciated. So experiment and have fun!
