Torchwood actress to star in Zach Braff comedy All New People at Manchester Opera House

Award-winning actress Eve Myles and Royal Shakespeare Company actress Susannah Fielding are confirmed to star alongside American actor Zach Braff in his UK stage acting debut in the new comedy, All New People.

This witty play, written by Scrubs star Braff, will be directed by award-winning Peter DuBois and can be seen at the Opera House in Manchester from today (Wednesday) until Saturday.

Eve Myles is best known for her role as Gwen in the BBC1 series Torchwood and has also appeared in Doctor Who, Belonging, Merlin and EastEnders.

“I’m delighted to have been cast as the character of Emma in such a well anticipated and funny play,” said Eve.

“Having concentrated on TV work recently I’m excited to be returning to the stage and I’m very much looking forward to working with Zach and Peter.”

Having made her name on stage as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, Susannah Fielding has recently been seen in TV shows including Wallander, Doctor Who and Pete Versus Life.

“I am very excited to be appearing on the West End stage in All New People,” said Susannah. “With such a witty script and some fabulous lines, I am really looking forward to getting my teeth into playing the role of Kim.”

All New People is receiving its UK premiere at the Opera House as part of Manchester Gets It First, Ambassador Theatre Group’s commitment to making Manchester the UK’s official city for launching theatre’s biggest and best new productions, a scheme which has won the backing of the city council.

A contemporary comedy, All New People debuted at New York’s award-winning Second Stage Theatre packed out nightly in the 2011 season.

In the dead of winter, at his wealthy friends’ luxury Long Beach Island apartment, Charlie (Zach Braff) has hit rock bottom on his 35th birthday.

Away from the rest of the world, this perfect escape is interrupted by a motley parade of misfits who show up and change his plans.

A hired beauty, a fireman, and an eccentric British real estate agent desperately trying to stay in the country all suddenly find themselves tangled together in a beach house where the mood is anything but sunny, while Charlie just wishes they’d leave and let him get on with it.
