Crewe’s Box welcomes Situationists and The Capitals

HIGHLY-rated indie pop outfit Situationists headline a line-up of new music at The Box in Crewe on Saturday, January 17.

The Sheffield four-piece were chosen us as a ‘hot tip’ by the people behind the Nationwide Mercury Prize and the band have won high praise in the national music press.

Their track This Is A Show from the band’s Onwards and Upwards EP was ‘A playlisted’ on NME Radio.

First support on the night comes from the talented young Chester four-piece The Capitals.

The band features Ed Black on guitar and vocals, Ciaran Preedy on bass and backing vocals, guitarist Mike Spriggs and Rory Keegan on drums.

The teenage four-piece have already hit the national airwaves after they were invited to perform on Radio One programme BBC Switch and asked come up with a jingle for the show.

DJs Annie Mac and Dave Grimshaw chatted with the band before their specially-composed clip was played live on air.

They list The Wombats, The Pigeon Detectives, Arctic Monkeys and The Fratellis among their indie influences but plan to carve their own path.

Further support comes from Cheshire-based four-piece The Rittz who deliver an exiting and unique blend of thought-provoking lyrics and catchy, hard edged guitar lines.

Formed in October 2007, the band are Adam French and Sam Hancock on guitars and vocals, Jake Alldread on bass and backing vocals and Matt Bass on drums.
