GCSE students at The Queens School are celebrating the best ever percentage of A* grades in the history of the school.
Five girls - Anya Bos, Victoria Davies, Aine Jackson, Natasha Bury and Christina Lee - scored 10 A*s, seventeen girls achieved 9 A*s and more than 50 per cent of students achieved all A*s and As.
The overall pass A*- C pass rate was 98.7%.
New headmistress Sarah Clark was delighted to be at the City Walls Road school on what she described as the best day.
She said: We are so proud of what the girls have achieved this year. They work very hard and fully deserve their success. Results such as these once again emphasise the benefits of a single-sex education for girls. Having such a strong academic platform will enable them to go on to further study with great confidence for the future.
Mrs Clark is a keen exponent of single-sex education for girls. She went to a girls grammar school herself and read history and classics at Newnham College Cambridge, a womens college.
GCSE high achievers.
