Upton-by-Chester High School GCSE results

CELEBRATIONS are under way at Upton-by-Chester High School where results threw up countless individual success stories.

Two thirds of students attained five A*-C grades with 56% gaining five with Maths and English.

It represents a very positive outcome for the year group when measured against their prior attainment and continues the strengthening trend of results year on year.

A total of 20 students scored eight or more A/A* grades.

In Art, 122 out of 123 students gained grades A*-C while German candidates achieved an A*-C rate of 97.5%. Religious Studies had an A*-C rate of 86%, French 83% and History 82%.

The English department saw 23 A* results, Geography and Art had 12 A*s and PE had 11.

Religious Studies, History, Biology, Physics, Maths and Graphics also scored very well in the higher grades.

A school spokesman said: "Congratulations go to students for all their hard work and determination and thanks too to the teachers and the parents for the support and guidance they have given. It is, as always, a team approach that generates these positive outcomes."
