St David's High School in Saltney GCSE results

HARD-WORKING students are celebrating their GCSE results.

At St David’s High School, Saltney, 69% of pupils achieved five or more passes at grades A*-C.

Headteacher Tony Davidson said: "This year’s A to C pass rate is up on the 2008 figure and, for the fourth

consecutive year, we have beaten our previous best.

"The percentage of students achieving a grade C or better in English, Mathematics and Science is up by 40%.

"Students of all abilities have approached their GCSE

examinations with considerable energy and determination, and teaching staff have provided excellent support and guidance.

"The results achieved reflect the hard work and dedication which we have seen over the past five years.

"The great majority of students, as well as their parents and teachers at St David’s, are delighted and so am I.

"I congratulate everyone concerned.

He added: "Our aim will be to continue the upward trend and to continue to achieve results which currently place us in the top quartile of schools in Wales for added value."

Mr Davidson said the school was particularly pleased with the results of Jack Shallcross (6A*s and 4As) Sam Williams (6A*s and 4 As) Lucy Thomas (2 A* grades and 8 As) Syeda Ali (2 A* grades and 8 As) and William Thrift (1 A*, 7 As and 1 B).
