STUDENTS at Bishops’ Bluecoat High School celebrated "another fantastic year".
Yvonne Blackburn, head of sixth form, and head teacher Justin Blakebrough said they were delighted with the results of all the students who had worked hard to achieve their grades.
Mr Blakeborough said: "The results are excellent and are attributable to the hard work and commitment of teachers and students."
Some of their high achievers included:
Brigid Dodds who received A grades in English, Geography and Home Economics and is going to Lancaster University to study geography; Stephen Hodkinson received three As and one B in French, German, History and Chemistry (AS) and is going to St Andrews to study French and German; Jenna Mecklenburgh, who received four As in Biology, Chemistry (AS), French and German and is going to Leeds University to study French and international development and Bethan Uitterdijk received three As in Fine Art, Psychology and Religious Education and is taking a gap year in Africa.
Elliot Ward received three As in business studies, English and history and is going to Manchester University to study politics and modern history; Michael Povah received three As and one B in chemistry, biology, maths and psychology (AS) and will be going on to Liverpool to study medicine.
Lianne Shaw received two As and one B in design technology, English and fine art and is going to Brighton to study architecture and Sian French received three As and one B in maths, further maths, sports studies and biology and is going to the University of Western England to study physiotherapy.
The school is also said to be "delighted" with its AS results.
Many year 12 students have achieved excellent grades, with the top 10 students gaining 37 A grades between them.
Of particular note is Aamir Walwyn, who achieved an A grade in music A level a year early as well as four top grade AS levels in Maths and Science.
