CHESTER, A Bygone Era, is a new booklet showing how Chester has changed over the years.
Written by Peter Riley, the £3 book is available from the Chester History & Heritage Centre, Watergate News, Waterstones or online at www.pdriley.co.uk.
Peter, of Runcorn, is a writer and broadcaster on local history and he has written and published more than 60 books on parts of Cheshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire.
He said: “I first visited Chester as a child and I was fascinated by this wonderful, historic city that was such a contrast to the rough and tumble and smoky city of Manchester, where I was born.
“Here was a place that could be explored safely, had a wonderful river offering boat rides, the fascinating Rows and a Roman past that always intrigued.”
