CHESTER were undone in the Bateman BMV Premier League by a strong Fylde line-up.
The hosts had lost twice to Chester already this season but the players they had out on Saturday were unrecognisable to the ones who played in the previous two encounters.
Five of the Fylde team had played for the club’s first XV a week earlier.
Chester played in fits and starts, competing well but also gifting Fylde good attacking ball due to errors.
The visitors started well and were in control for the first 15 minutes.
However, they were unable to maintain their early high standards and Fylde – showing a sharp cutting edge – punished them on the counter.
A Chester RUFC spokesman said: “I don't recall any of their scores coming from a set piece, but when we either coughed up possession due to an error, or a penalty, their scrum-half was on it like a flash.
“We have played worse and won games this season, and for most of the game there wasn’t much between the two sides.”
