Deeside Ramblers 6 Preston 6

RAMBLERS rescued a draw with almost the final touch of a high-scoring game.

The hosts were 6-5 down with two minutes to go, but the Preston keeper gave away a penalty stroke and was red carded. Ramblers netted from the resulting penalty to make it 6-6 and share the spoils in Saturday’s Conference North match.

The home side’s goalscorers were Ali Ghazanfar (3), Ibrar Latif (2) and Babar Abdullah.

In Division Five South of the North West League, Ramblers’ 4ths won 3-2 at home to Llandudno.

A goal by Peter Cope ensured it was 1-1 at half time, with a brace from skipper David Jones sealing victory in the second half.

A strike by Beth Wilson was not enough for Ramblers’ Ladies as they lost 3-1 at Crewe Vagrants in Division One of the Northern Women’s League. It was 1-1 at half time but Crewe out-muscled Deeside after the break.

The ladies’ 2nd team fielded a young side at home to Golborne Daten and lost out 2-0. Lucy Fernall showed plenty of promise.
