The highest standard

BISHOP Heber High School in Malpas has netted two top accolades in grassroots football.

It is one of only five schools in Cheshire to be awarded an FA Charter county standard award.

And it achieved a memorable double by being one of only six schools in the North West to receive the regional award.

Head of sport Mark Lindley is delighted at the twin accolade.

It was gained for the school’s dedication to making the beautiful game accessible at every level – with tournaments within and outside school and by the quality of its coaching.

As county and regional winners, the school received a pennant, an engraved plaque and £100-worth of sports vouchers from football development officers James Self and Jen Robinson.

Mr Self said: “The Cheshire County FA is committed to raising the standard of grass-roots football for all.

“The award recognises what a positive contribution Bishop Heber makes to the community, enabling young players to play football and develop their skills in a safe, structured and positive environment.”
