Golf: Join celebrity line-up at Pryors Hayes for children’s charity

SHIRTS donated by the biggest stars in Premiership football will go under the hammer at a charity auction and golf day.

The event will be held at Pryors Hayes Golf Club, at Willington Road, Oscroft, Tarvin, Chester.

Football stars past and present have teamed up to raise funds for Stick ‘n’ Step, a parent-led charity aiming to maximise the potential of children with Cerebral Palsy.

Signed football jerseys from Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, Everton’s Yakubu and Mikel Arteta, Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez and Newcastle United’s Chester-born skipper Michael Owen will be among the tempting items up for auction on Sunday, June 8.

Golfers will get a bargain 18 holes of golf, buffet lunch, on-course refreshment and the chance to win one of five team prizes for a £35 entrance fee.

In the evening, comedian Willie Miller will compere the prize-giving and auction.

Suzuki and Mitsubishi dealer Grenson Motors is sponsoring the day and will provide prizes for achievements such as being nearest the pins at every par three, and a beat the pro challenge.

Sky Sports football commentator Rob Palmer’s 13-year-old son Ellis has attended Stick ‘n’ Step for five years and Rob has called upon acquaintances from the sporting world to also compete in the event.

Professional Freddy Valenti, who runs rednetgolfholidays.com, has generously donated a golfing holiday for four players to Southern Spain as the top auction prize and a flag signed by legend Arnold Palmer will also go to the highest bidder.
