Former Argentina coach Alfio Basile claims he has been approached with an offer to join Manchester City.
Basile, 65, made his claim on television channel TyC Sports.
Basile said: "I have offers from Manchester City and from the United Arab Emirates which I am currently studying."
City are struggling in the Barclays Premier League this season, despite buying Brazil star Robinho in the summer, and are currently in the relegation zone.
City manager Mark Hughes has stressed he has received assurances from the club's owners that his position is safe and that he will be able to make signings during the winter transfer window to strengthen his team.
