England's hopes of salvaging a draw from the second Test with India were lifted on Tuesday after heavy fog delayed the start of the final day's play in Mohali.
Fog has interrupted the start in all but one day of the second Test at the PCA Stadium, but when the players arrived at the ground on Tuesday morning it was thicker than ever, leaving umpires Daryl Harper and Asad Rauf with no alternative but to put back the scheduled early start.
India were due to resume 285 runs ahead on 134 for four with Yuvraj Singh unbeaten on 39 off 40 balls and with a licence to score quick runs to set up a possible declaration.
That scenario would give India the opportunity to bowl at England in a bid to claim a 2-0 series victory after the hosts' triumph in Chennai.
