THE Liverpool squad will head for Fenway Park tonight to watch Boston Red Sox’s Major League Baseball clash with Chicago White Sox.
Boss Brendan Rodgers and his players will be guests of honour as Fenway Sports Group’s two clubs come together for the first time.
There’s set to be an introduction between Red Sox and Liverpool stars in the locker room with shirts being exchanged.
Initially, there were plans for Rodgers and defender Jamie Carragher to throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game but that will no longer happen.
Carragher might not make it to the pitcher’s mound but he’s relishing the chance to see the Red Sox in action.
“I actually went to watch a baseball match in the summer,” he said.
“I probably shouldn’t say this, but I went to watch the Yankees while I was in New York for a few days.
“I’ve started watching a bit on TV since I’ve been back. I actually watched the Yankees play the Red Sox about 10 days ago and I was trying to understand it a little bit more.
“I don’t fully understand it but I’ve got half an idea now so I’m actually looking forward to it and I’m sure it will be extremely enjoyable.”
The centre-back and his team-mates will be back at Fenway Park next Wednesday for the second game of their tour against Roma.
