BRAD JONES is likely to secure a return to Liverpool’s first team squad while Pepe Reina serves his three-match ban.
The Australian goalkeeper hasn’t been named in the Reds’ matchday 18 since a team managed by Roy Hodgson beat Bolton 2-1 on New Year’s Day in 2011.
Jones (left) was bought by Hodgson for £2.3million from Middlesbrough in August 2010 but made just two appearances against Northampton and Utrecht.
Following the appointment of Kenny Dalglish, Jones fell down the pecking order with Peter Gulacsi installed as understudy to Reina.
The 30-year-old had a spell on loan at Derby County towards the end of last season before returning to Anfield.
Alexander Doni is expected to start for Liverpool against Aston Villa on Saturday but Jones, who has been playing for the reserves recently, is set to be named on the bench.
